What is the PADI Rescue Diver Course?
While Scuba Diving is an intrinsically safe sport, the PADI Rescue Diver course prepares you to deal with dive emergencies, minor and major (above and below the surface), using a variety of techniques. Through knowledge development and rescue exercises, you learn what to look for and how to respond. During rescue scenarios, you put into practice your knowledge and skills. The different topics include: Self rescue, recognising and managing panic, fear and stress in other divers and ultimately being equipped to prevent emergency situations and provide emergency care if the situation arises.
During the course you will learn how to assist a tired diver at the surface and a panicked diver at the surface. You will practice some search patterns underwater with the aid of a compass to help you locate a missing buddy. You will learn how to surface, assess and transport an unresponsive diver with appropriate recovery for restoring breathing. You will also learn methods for exiting an unresponsive diver from the water.
At Star Diving Academy, we make sure you are well-equipped to handle emergencies above and below the surface. We also make sure you have a great team to support you and HAVE FUN!!!
Why should I get the PADI Rescue Diver Course at Star Diving Academy?
Learn from the best – we have been conducting this course for 15 years!
Improve Your Scuba Skills and Confidence Underwater and learn how to manage emergency situations… Also, progress your PADI Certification level.
Divers describe the PADI Rescue Diver course at Star Diving Academy as the “most challenging, yet most rewarding course” and for good reason. You will learn to become a better buddy by practicing problem solving skills until they become second nature. These skills will be put to the test, both on top of the water and underneath, until you can complete them confidently. With skills and training comes confidence and that’s exactly how the Rescue Diver Course will help your skills above and below the water.
Improve Your Underwater Navigation Skills
Navigation. An important skill to master – while you learn this in Open Water and Advanced Open Water, your Navigation skills will be more finely tuned. This is a great skill for you to take diving to the next level and also prepare you to become a PADI Pro at Divemaster level. You will learn search and rescue techniques – this is one of the many skills to utilise as a diver. This course presumes you are handling emergency situations with another diver, but you may also use your navigations skills to recover a dive computer or mask that may go overboard!!! You will have plenty of practice and you will ultimately be capable of ensuring you can navigate through any conditions.
Being Prepared for Any Emergency Situation
We have all learnt about the possible emergencies that can arise from diving. But can you confidently say that you would know what to do in an emergency situation? That’s where the Rescue Diver course comes in. Combined with Emergency First Response and quality CPR training will ensure you’re prepared for any medical emergency – on top of the water or underneath.
It’s the Last Course before the PADI Divemaster Course!
If you’re interested in taking the next step and turning scuba diving into a career, then the PADI Divemaster Course at Star Diving Academy might be for you. The Rescue Diver course is the last scuba course that you will need to complete before you start your journey to become an underwater tour guide (Divemaster or Master Scuba Diver for purely recreational divers). The skills and knowledge learnt in your Rescue Diver course will become the foundation of your Divemaster training.
It’s Loads of Fun
While the Rescue Diver course is quite serious and focused, at Star Diving Academy it’s also a lot of fun. Your Instructor will keep you on your toes throughout the course as you’re constantly surprised by different rescue scenarios. You can expect lots of laughter in between the focused learning, and of course some great team bonding and more diving – the best time to start for enthusiastic divers is NOW!
